In 1973, Sammy Wade graduated from R. B. Stall High School in North Charleston, SC. He enlisted in the US Army in August of 1973 and retired in May of 1999 at the rank of Captain as a Chaplain. He served as Assistant Inspector General from 1988-1993. During his military career, he received numerous awards. Three of these awards were meritorious medals for exceptional duty performance. At the age of twelve, Sammy Wade was baptized at the Lovely Mountain Church in North Charleston. He was ordained in September of 1984 at the Lovely Mountain Baptist Church by the Charleston County Baptist Association. Reverend Wade earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, a Masters Degree in Bibical Studies and a Master of Divinity. He is certified in Clinical Pastoral Education. He taught World Religion as an adjunct instructor at Benedict College in Columbia, SC. He currently serves as part-time chaplain at Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Reverend Wade is the founder and CEO of J.U.M.P.S. (Juveniles Upholding Morals & Principles of Society). J.U.M.P.S. is an after school and summer camp program for students ages six to seventeen. He is the co-director, serving with Mrs. Wade, for the Mary Lee Howell Holiday Food Box Program which provides food for senior citizens. He is the founder of the Gospel Hammer Project and the Lower Richland Veterans Formation. In February 2003, Rev. Wade organized and started the International Seminary Extension in Lower Richland to train ministers and Christian workers for the Lord. He was also instrumental in coordinating and negotiating the designation which allowed Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and St. John Baptist Church to become the first churches to be certified as Safe Haven sites in South Carolina. As the current pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Eastover and St. John Baptist Church in Hopkins, Rev. Wade is a gifted preacher, revivalist, vocalist and visionary. He is an instrument of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to work in him to touch and change people's lives. Reverend Wade is married to the former Mary Ann Johnson of North Charleston. They are blessed with three children: Kanika Aisha, Jabari Darweshi and Kamilah Regema. He is the proud grandfather of Jabari Darweshi Wade II and Jayion Christopher Wade and father-in-law of the former Melissa Jones. |
